Obituaries

Marie Elizabeth Showers September 12, 1954 - February 9,2024 

Marie passed on Friday, February 9th at home with her daughter and her beloved dog Junior by her side.  After a 6-year battle with cancer, the fight is over now and it’s time to rest, Mom.  Marie leaves behind her daughter and best friend Shannon (Mike) Jacques, son Joel (Kitty) McCormick and her prize and joys her grandchildren Tristan, Christian, Jesse and Veronica.  She also leaves behind her sisters Cathy McGrenra and Pam (Terry) Wheeler. She is predeceased by her parents Eldon and Barbara Elliott and her big brother Daniel Elliott that I know was there waiting with a drink in hand for her. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. 

Thank you will never be enough for the support from her PSW Melanie and nurse Mandy.  Without them I would not have been able to keep her at home till the end as she wanted. Huge thank you to Dr Glen Maddison for his care for 6 years before he retired and then Dr Crombeen for stepping in and making her comfortable at the end. Marie was able to be at home the entire time and came to Mike and Shannon’s just the last 2 weeks and for that we are so grateful.  She was able to pass the way she wanted and at home with her pets and loved ones.  At my Mom’s request there will be no funeral, cremation has taken place.  Arrangements entrusted to Lakeview Cemetery Burial and Cremation services. 

To lose your mother and best friend in the same day is a pain that is indescribable, I will miss you forever, Mom.
