Ernest Peter Ronholm  January 13, 1940 - July 1st, 2024

It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing of Ernest Peter Ronholm on July 1, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. His wish was to be at home and to be able to celebrate his 45th wedding anniversary (June 16th) with his loving wife, Andrea (Levecque). He passed peacefully with his wife by his side.

Ernie was born in Whitney, Ontario to the late Fred and Juila Ronholm. The family relocated as Fred had an employment opportunity with Polymer. Ernie started working at Polymer in 1961 and worked for the company through its various ownership transitions until retiring in 2001 as a Safety Specialist.

Ernie enjoyed camping at their seasonal site or on one of their many trips to Algonquin Park. He was a self-taught guitar player and loved music whether it was playing, singing or dancing to it especially with friends and family. Ernie enjoyed making home movies and taking photographs of his family and the places they traveled. Many grandchildren were the recipient of Grandpa's hair trims, open fire breakfasts, and KD lunches. Ernie made wonderful macrame lawn chairs and was a very gifted wood worker making everything from shelves to birdhouses for his family. His garden was always bountiful and kept many people in tomatoes.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching golf, curling the Olympics and a loyal, if somewhat frustrated fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs (he remembered the last time they won the cup) and the Blue Jays (they should have fired Schneider by now and stop pulling the pitchers when they are doing fine).

It is hard to put into words the essence of a man that lived 84 years and was so loved. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor and a great appreciation for his family. His absence will be felt by those that love him.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Andrea.

Cherished father of Patrick (Donna) Ronholm, Cheryl (Ray) Hamel, Cathy (Joe) Gibbons, Lynne (Martin) Ronholm, Jen Ronholm,  Doug Brennan, Denise (Al) Pikkert, Don Brennan and Brian (Corinna) Brennan. Loving Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather to a plethora of children.

Survived by siblings, Andrew (Mary Jane), Mary (late Ron) Forget, Jean (late Bob) Brisco, and brother/sister in laws Mary Jane and Bill Blunt, Michelle and Ron Hunt, Roger (late Loretta) Germain.

Ernie was predeceased by his daughter Lori (2022), sister Theresa and her husband Bernard Morreau, Gary Ronholm and his wife Cathy.

In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made to the Sarnia & District Humane Society.
