Obituaries

On Saturday December 10, Hugh Smith, beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away at age eighty-six. Born to Annie and William Smith in Lugar, Ayrshire, Scotland.  

He will be greatly missed by his daughters Margaret and Angela as well as his granddaughters Jaclyn and Sarah, and son-in-law Ray.

Hugh was beloved by his family in Scotland, brother Robert, sister in laws Charlotte and Eppie and missed greatly the family that had preceded him, sister Margaret, brother Billy and brother-in-law Bill.   He will be missed by  nephew and nieces that thought of him fondly Evelyn, Anne, Lenny, Hazel, Kenneth, Linda,  Danna, Paul and their partners.  

Hugh immigrated with his family in 1966 but kept close ties with his family in Scotland and visited frequently. Hugh moved to Sarnia in 1978 and made many new friends including getting involved with the local Celtic Bhoys group and the ‘square’ table at his local.  

We can not express the feeling of loss. We will miss his mischievous smile, his love and his exploring side that took quite a few of us on adventures.

Celebration of Hugh’s life will take place in Sarnia and Scotland in the new year.
