Anne Peters
1936-2023
Anne Peters(née Forrester), age 87, passed away peacefully at Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia on May 3, 2023. She was born on April 8, 1936 in Falkirk, Scotland to John and Jean Forrester (née Cruickshanks).
Anne and her brother, David, were orphaned at a young age and she emigrated to Canada on her own at the age of 16. She was joined by David a year or two later.
Anne worked at Polysar in Sarnia for 22 years, retiring from her role as payroll supervisor in 1992.
Anne greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends. Over the years, she especially enjoyed travelling with her family on many trips and cruises throughout North America, Europe, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Anne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She would do anything for her family. But, she was also fond of imparting no-nonsense words of wisdom to her offspring - often quoting from her own mother with sayings such as: “You’ve got a good Scotch tongue in your head, use it!”
Anne was a wonderful storyteller and had a great, self-deprecating sense of humor. She had a kind and thoughtful heart and was always there for any family or friends going through a tough time.
Anne married the late William (Bill) Peters in 1956. They lived together in Sarnia until Bill’s death in 2000. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Heather (2008), and her brother, David (2013).
Anne is survived by her three sons, Mark (Glady), Jay (Lori) and Jim. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Alissa (Steve), Chris, Tyler and Bailey; her two great-grandchildren: Lily and Penny; her sister-in-law, Bernice; and her several nieces and nephews (and their families) of the Forrester and Hodgins clans in Alberta and Sarnia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Canada.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Anne’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life, to be held at Huron Oaks, 2587 Lakeshore Road, Bright’s Grove on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
